Surface appraisal is a vitally important part of safe riding. Even objects that first appear to be insignificant can create issues for a rider. For example, avoid riding over manhole covers as they may be loose or broken. On dry pavement always attempt to ride in the part of the lane on either side of center as there is usually less spilled fluid buildup. Whenever possible always try to avoid running over any object as it may be a potential ride spoiler. BE SAFE!
